Many have looked to 4G and 5G networks as the next generation for command and video links. However, it is not as simple as most people believe. Researchers have tested some configurations, and while data speed and latency is not an issue, roaming and hand-off between multiple cell towers is a problem especially when multiple towers see the drone at similar signal levels. Mobile networks were not designed to operate this way.
