AN AER LINGUS flight travelling from Dublin to Gatwick airport in London allegedly came close to a potentially lethal mid-air collision with a drone. A report claims that an unnamed pilot, was forced to carry out an emergency turn in his Airbus A320 while carrying 186 passengers. The alleged incident was reported to have occurred at 1,700ft, with the Airbus travelling at around 190mph, and preparing to land at Gatwick when the incident occurred. The incident occurred just before 2pm on April 28, and is thought to be the first recorded instance of a pilot taking evasive manoeuvres from what can only be described as an unidentified flying object, since there is no physical evidence available to confirm the pilots story.

A vigilante neighbour used a drone to dob in 20 homeowners for breaking planning regulations. The string of 'petty' reports began with a complaint against Richard Anderson, who lives in Mosgiel, near Dunedin, on New Zealand's south island. Council found a pergola and a firewood shelter were both too close the fence boundary and ordered him to remove them. Council Community services manager Simon Pickford said it was the first of 19 complaints against other families in the neighbourhood. All reports were accompanied by pictures that appeared to have been taken by a drone, he said.
